Ecocite on the Canal

Taplen Construction constructed the 25-unit Condominium EcoCité on the Canal project in Ottawa. The building is designed to meet the sustainable building standards of the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold rating of the Canadian Green Building Council, and exceeds the energy efficiency standards of the Model National Energy Building Code by 50%. The project incorporates light gauge steel floor and wall panels with in-floor hydronic heating, super-insulated windscreen exterior walls, geothermal deep-well based heating and cooling, high efficiency PVC windows, and green roofing systems. Taplen was involved early in the project and contributed to the material selections and construction methods during the design, then managed the project through construction.
